Trust = Peace

God’s timing is a hard thing sometimes, isn’t it? And trusting Him while waiting for His timing can be even more challenging!

I’ve gone through phases where I thought I was doing pretty good at the whole “trusting God” thing. Yet, as is so typical of life, just when I think I’m gaining ground, something comes that shows me I still have a lot of growing to do. I’m pretty skilled at giving it to God… only to take it right back again and keep worrying or trying to fix it myself.

As I’ve pondered this, I’m reminded of Abraham and Sarah, who waited 25 years for the fulfillment of God’s promise to them. 25 years! I get impatient after only a few days. Obviously, I still have a lot to learn when it comes to trusting God and waiting for Him.

Where is it that you are struggling with God’s timing? It’s a real challenge, and very hard to let go of our perceived sense of control. Yet when we do, we receive the blessing of His peace in place of our anxiety.

    Candle,

    I love receiving your emails. They always touch my heart. I’m struggling with trusting God’s timing for my 34 & 28 year old boys salvation. Seems like I pray my heart out with tears and agony, then find peace as I leave it with Him. But as I continue this day after day, week after week, month , then years……. I take it back from God over and over and feel the heavy burden and terror of what if the Holy Spirit doesn’t draw them to Jesus! I don’t know how to stop this roller coaster. I have tremendous faith, but it fails me in this situation. Thanks for letting me share,

    Joanie

    1. Hi Joanie,

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It’s so hard when we see loved ones choose a path we know is not one that leads to life. Ephesians 6:18 encourages us to: “Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.” I think we could safely add to be persistent in our prayers for unbelievers as well, that God would touch their hearts, open their eyes, and draw them to Himself.

      I don’t have all the answers, but I’d encourage you to continue to press in and trust God, in spite of the challenges. God loves them even more than you do.

      God bless you and thank you for sharing.
